Facebook and facelifts for Citysearch.com.au

Facebook and facelifts for Citysearch.com.au

Late last week we rolled out a significant update to Citysearch.com.au. The first thing you’ll notice is the revised header which now sports a much cleaner, lighter design with a prominent search box. Once you start a search you’ll really begin to notice the changes. The search results page has been completely redesigned for better scanability. You can also clearly see what other users are voting for and commenting on.

When you click on a result for more information you’ll find the details page has also been redesigned. The new, cleaner, lighter design makes it easy to find the information you need. You can read what other users are saying and leave your own comments. We’ve hooked up Citysearch with Facebook Connect so you can now sign in to Citysearch using your Facebook account. This makes leaving comments on Citysearch much easier and it also gives you the option of publishing the stuff you’ve found on Citysearch to your Facebook wall for your friends to see.

We hope you’ll enjoy using the new features as much as we do.

So Matt, what’s with the background?

So Matt, what’s with the background?

About 9 years ago I had a thing for designing desktop images (wallpaper). I also had some odd rule about never using anything other than my own personal designs or photos. Odd as it might seem, this rule still stands as it reflects a belief in my own work and it’s also a great test of a design’s longevity.

Another rule I have (it’s actually more of a bad habit) is that I never throw anything away. My virtual mess is just as big as the physical mess that occupies the space under my desk and in my cupboard. So when I came across my old wallpapers this one particularly stood out for me. I’d always imagined it could exist as part of a website design. So I stripped out the car and tiled it on my Twitter page. It worked better than I had expected so I decided to use it here.

On the right is the original wallpaper featuring the General Lee and the fictitious airline of the same name. Enjoy.

Over the years I’ve been responsible for a number of creations but I’ve never been this proud…

Today we launched the new version of the Citysearch TV Guide. A huge leap forward from the old guide, this version now includes pay TV channels, the ability to personalise your preferences, enhanced time and display controls, a nifty widget and a much clearer interface.

Silver for Browns. Bronze for Yellow.

This year the MADC Awards Night was held on Friday 26th of May. Tribal DDB had 3 entries in the Best Consumer Site category: Hocking Stuart was named as a finalist, Yellow Pages picked up a bronze and Brown Brothers was awarded a silver. I’m particularly thrilled with the success of Brown Brothers. This was one of my favourite, and certainly most enjoyable projects to work on. I mean it’s not often a visit to the cellar door can be deemed as “research”.

Nearly 2 years after we began the redesign of Brownbrothers.com.au, the new site is finally live. It’s been a great pleasure to work on and an even greater pleaseure to sample the produce. Cheers!
